Juliane Noll is an artist born in Berlin and currently living and working between Florida and Antwerp, Belgium. Her practice spans various media, including painting, printmaking, video, and sculpture. She explores these mediums through the lens of the female/other, examining her relationship with the ecologies, literature, and myths of the places she inhabits. Noll depicts fragmented moments in an intricate physicality, embodying vulnerable, pensive scenes. She has exhibited her work in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, The United States and Belgium. Next to her commercial work as an illustrator and print maker, she regularly is part of art residencies and organises events and exhibitions in Antwerp. She is also part of the editorial team behind the zine “Spoon” about food and its (ecological) signifigance in society and agriculture.

In Orchid Puppy, she delves into the intricate entanglement between urban environments and the natural world, tracing the unexpected and seemingly coincidental journey of two women—one a meticulous biologist, the other a perceptive hairdresser. Their paths cross in surprising ways, leading them through a landscape that echoes a parallel version of Antwerp: a place that feels both uncannily familiar and strikingly surreal.
The story unfolds as a layered exploration of mimicry and mutation, where plants imitate people, and people, in turn, take on botanical traits. The polluted waters of the Schelde become home to elusive mermaids, relics of myth surviving amid industrial waste. Alongside these strange beings are clandestine pockets of beauty—secret groves of bioengineered orchids, cultivated in forgotten architectural follies tucked between crumbling buildings and hyper-modern facades.
